We are proud that Kolkata, the city of football lovers, is hosting this prestigious event. Let the games begin with the spirit of unity and sportsmanship.”

This year’s tournament features 24 top clubs from across the country, including Indian Super League (ISL) teams, I-League contenders, and squads from the Indian Armed Forces. Matches will be held across three cities: Kolkata, Guwahati, and Kokrajhar.

The Chief Minister also took a symbolic kick of the ball to officially declare the tournament open, accompanied by dignitaries from the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the Indian Army, and representatives of participating clubs.

The opening match saw defending champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant take on debutants Inter Kashi, with fans filling the stadium to capacity. Security was tight, and arrangements were made to ensure smooth travel and safety for attendees.

With football fever gripping the city, the Durand Cup 2025 promises a high-octane display of talent, grit, and sporting glory.
